If you think the need for women’s liberation and assertiveness training became obsolete along with LPs and tape players think again. It’s alive and well, and these days Dr. Lita Rawdin Singer thinks there’s an increased need for men and women to make themselves heard. “I still hear women asking their husband’s permission to go on retreats,” lamented Dr. Singer, Brandeis National Committee’s guest speaker for its September 24 Showcase luncheon starting at 11 a.m. at Via Brasil Steakhouse, 1225 S. Ft. Apache Road. The cost for the luncheon is $38 per person.
Singer knows of what she speaks because she draws her theories from years of counseling woman as a licensed clinical psychologist as well as a licensed marriage and family therapist and hypnotherapist and a professor at GraduateSchool. In a phone interview from her home in Santa Barbara, Calif., Singer affirmed there is still a battle of the sexes, and women are losing. Freeing women will free men so both can move from a domination-submission relationship to partnership! “It’s all about personal freedom,” said Singer. “It’s all about change, now. Your change. It’s not what happens in your life, but how you deal with it that matters.”
“Adam Was Trapped, Eve was Framed – Five Steps to Relationship Freedom” is the newly published book by this multifaceted professor and psychologist who started her own career as a stock broker but who quickly found that her real bent was helping other women to succeed in their relationships. “Finding love and inner peace is an inside job and starts with the journey within,” she said.
In addition to relationship therapy, Singer is a world-traveled master photographer, whose black and white images have been exhibited, published and collected by art lovers all over the world. Both her book and her photographs will be available for purchase at the luncheon. A book signing follows immediately after the luncheon. Proceeds support the BNC Students for Science scholarship.
