Larry D. Thompson in his new book, “insanity bookThe Insanity Plea” published by Story Merchant Books brings us into the life of Wayne Little.

From the back cover:  A young nurse is savagely killed during a pre-dawn run on Galveston’s seawall.

The murderer slices her running shorts from her body as his trophy and tosses the body over the wall to the rocks below. The former may be a mission impossible since the killer is the most brilliant, devious and cruel fictional murderer since Hannibal Lecter. The chances of winning an insanity plea are equally grim.

It will take the combined skills of the two lawyers along with those of Duke’s girlfriend, Claudia, a brilliant appellate lawyer, and Rita Contreras, Wayne’s next door neighbor and computer hacker extraordinaire, to attempt to unravel the mystery of the serial killer before the clock clicks down to a guilty verdict for Dan.

The Insanity Plea is a spell-binding tale of four amateur sleuths who must find, track and trap a serial killer as they prepare for and defend Wayne’s brother, who is trapped in a mind like that of John Nash, Russell Crowe’s character in A Beautiful Mind.

Combining legal thriller with tracking a serial killer, Thompson once again takes the reader on a helluva ride, right up to the last page and sentence.

A manhunt for a serial killer, a nail-biting thriller, a detective story and a courtroom battle these are the elements that Mr. Thompson has provided us in “The Insanity Plea”.  All Wayne is trying to do is protect his brother.  To really do so he is going to have to find the real killer and it is going to take the help of three friends to accomplish it.  Add in the fact that that they are going to have to stay alive as the killer doesn’t want to be found.  This is one exciting book. I do not recommend you drink coffee while reading this book as there is more than enough excitement to keep you going.  Give yourself plenty of time to enjoy this book as you will want to finish it before going to bed.  “The Insanity Plea” is an exciting adventure from start to finish.

Let’s agree that “The Messiah Matrix” is a work of fiction written by an author of fiction.  It is not truth nor does it represent itself to be truth.  With this as my foundation this is one very exciting book.  Ryan and Emily are running around trying to solve the few clues that they have while, simultaneously, trying to stay alive because there are assassins trying to stop them.   Do I agree with the premise at the conclusion of this book?  Of course not.  But then I do not have to as this is fiction.  ”The Messiah Matrix” is loaded with twists and turns that will leave you guessing all the while you are flipping pages to find out what happens next. 

Mr. Atchity  has provided us with a very exciting book with clever characters that I hope come back in this very talented author’s next book.

Book Review: “Dead Peasants” by Larry D. Thompson

Larry D. Thompson in his new book, “Dead Peasants” published by Thomas Dunne Books brings us into the life of Jack Bryant.

Synopsis:

Lawyer Jack Bryant retires early to Fort Worth to kick back, relax and watch his son play football at TCU. Bored with retirement he opens a pro bono office in his RV. When Jack finds an elderly widow at his doorstep, clutching a check for life insurance proceeds on her husband but payable to his former employer, Jack files a civil suit to collect the benefits rightfully due the widow. A seemingly accidental death of his client’s husband thrusts Jack into a vortex of serial killings. He and his new love interest find themselves targets in the same murder for hire scheme. To stop the killings Jack must unravel what in their past makes certain people worth more dead than alive.

Somehow the term, dead peasants and legal thriller do not seem to go hand in hand.  Dead Peasants seems to lend itself to a tale of knights and kings and feudal society don’t you agree?  It seems that dead peasants is a legal insurance term for when an employer takes out an insurance policy on his employees and continues to pay the premiums even after the employee’s dismissal or retirement. The employer hopes to collect the benefits upon that person’s death. This practice has been deemed illegal in most states.  Jack Bryant is brought into the case when he finds that the former employer of June Davis’ deceased husband had a very large life-insurance policy, a dead peasant policy, on her husband, which made the employer the beneficiary.  Now as Jack goes to court to collect the benefits rightfully due June he also has to battle to stay alive as he has walked into a murder mine field.  This is one exciting book.  An action, adventure, mystery, courtroom thriller as Jack’s life is in deadly danger.  I do not recommend you drink coffee while reading this book as there is more than enough excitement to keep you going.  Give yourself plenty of time to enjoy this book as you will want to finish it before going to bed.  “Dead Peasants” is an exciting adventure from start to finish.
